Tip for February, 2009

Did you know that the new blends of Ethanol fuel have a 20 degree lower boiling point than 100% gasoline?

I have been getting calls and e-mails indicating that carbs are leaking fuel after the car is warm (Hot) and shut off. I believe this new fuel is a likely suspect.  Remedies include an electric radiator fan that is controlled by a thermostat and runs after the engine is shut off.

Or, the use of a Phenolic spacer under the carbs is helpful in keeping the carbs cooler. I am working on having these manfactured.  This will require longer studs and some small modification of the choke rod on the 66 tripower.  Spacers only need to be 1/4" to 5/16" thick.
